Cannot Connect to SCGuest WiFi with iPhone

Issue: You are trying to connect your iPhone and you are getting the “too many devices” error, and it is a phone you have had on the SCGuest Wi-Fi before.

Likely Reason: Private Wi-Fi/Rotating MAC Address has been enabled on your phone. This seems to be happening after an iOS update.

Fix: Turn off Private Wi-Fi/Rotating MAC Address (and consider re-checking each time your phone has an iOS update)

Steps:

  1. Open Settings app
  2. Select Wi-Fi
  3. Find the SCGuest Wi-Fi name and search for the blue icon (will likely be a lowercase letter “i” inside a circle) on the right side of the SCGuest Wi-Fi option
  4. Click the blue icon
  5. Change the “Private Wi-Fi Address” option “Off”
    • You may get a notification that turning Private Wi-Fi off will enable tracking. This is fine and proceed with turning it off
  6. If necessary, reconnect to SCGuest

If after completing these steps, you still receive the “too many devices”, please submit a ticket to the Technology Department (if you have not done so already).
