Cannot Connect to SCGuest WiFi with iPhone
Issue: You are trying to connect your iPhone and you are getting the “too many devices” error, and it is a phone you have had on the SCGuest Wi-Fi before.
Likely Reason: Private Wi-Fi/Rotating MAC Address has been enabled on your phone. This seems to be happening after an iOS update.
Fix: Turn off Private Wi-Fi/Rotating MAC Address (and consider re-checking each time your phone has an iOS update)
Steps:
- Open Settings app
- Select Wi-Fi
- Find the SCGuest Wi-Fi name and search for the blue icon (will likely be a lowercase letter “i” inside a circle) on the right side of the SCGuest Wi-Fi option
- Click the blue icon
- Change the “Private Wi-Fi Address” option “Off”
- You may get a notification that turning Private Wi-Fi off will enable tracking. This is fine and proceed with turning it off
- If necessary, reconnect to SCGuest
If after completing these steps, you still receive the “too many devices”, please submit a ticket to the Technology Department (if you have not done so already).
